This year, both of my kids are doing track & field. Neither of them were in it last year. This year is the first my son could join, now that he’s in seventh grade. My daughter had run the year before, but then she dislocated her knee at the end of the season. Before she started, we said ‘just don’t do hurdles’. Anything else was up for grabs. And, I’ll support pretty much anything she’s interested in. The problem is…she takes after me. I wouldn’t necessarily call myself clumsy, but I also cannot claim to be coordinated. Like, at all. So, yeah, hurdles probably wouldn’t have been a good idea.
Turns out neither was art class. Which is where she dislocated her knee(at least, where it finally gave out on her). And she didn’t run again for more than a year after that, but then she joined the cross country team again this Fall. She had some struggles with it, a lot coming back to being worried her knee would go out again. But, she did find her stride again. Even if it did take almost to the end of the season. Hopefully she’ll make it all the way through this track season without any issues.
Writing
I had a pretty good start to the week, making progress on both Triple Play and Know My Way Around(Grady & Sloan). Then, Wednesday…well, I’m not sure what happened. I got my words in on Triple Play without a problem. Then, my brain just rebelled. The routine I’d been using was working, and yet when I went to switch projects, I just couldn’t anymore. I found something that worked pretty well on Thursday and after some thinking, something that I think will work going forward next week. We’ll have to see how it goes, though.
Triple Play
I finally got past the midpoint on this. I won’t finish it this month, I’m pretty sure of that. I’m very close to 50k on it, so it will probably be at least 90k(Rounding for Home was over 100k, so I’m sticking to pattern with these at least).
The Mirror to Perfection
I finished beta edits last week and decided to run it through Fictionary to make sure I didn’t cause any gaping plot holes. Still working on filling in all the elements in that, but I am making progress.
Know My Way Around
I was able to fit one of the scenes I’d written earlier into the current version, plus I added over 2600 words. I’ve finished the first 2 chapters and am heading toward the inciting incident. There isn’t really a “meet-cute” since as a friends-to-lovers romance, they already know each other. I’m going to work on this next week as well, then I might put it aside for April while I finish Triple Play(since I’m considering working on 1 romance, 1 mystery, and 1 fantasy or historical, and cycling through them each month).
Reading
I read a couple of good books but not really anything to gush about. Maybe next week. It is #transrightreadathon, so I will be reading/listening and shouting about them when I can.
Crafting
I finished the cowl I’d been knitting last week. And then I went and found this mountain doodle pattern. It’s actually several small patterns that you can mix and match. I decided to make basically a mini-blanket. Something I can just throw over my lap when I’m sitting here and do not want to put socks on even though my feet are ice cubes(I seriously *hate* wearing socks).
I’d started it, but didn’t give myself the extra stitches to make a border around it and the edges were curling up. So, I ripped out the first couple rows I’d done and started over again. Right now I have the bottom part of a garter stitch border, but I haven’t started on the actual pattern yet. Or enough for a progress picture. Maybe by next week(I seem to be saying that a lot. 😆).
