Writing Wednesday: Halloween

It’s the last day of October! Which means NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow! I’m going to be a rebel this year. Rather than working on one new project, I’ll be working on 4 in progress projects. I’m hoping to finish two of them(Still Burning & Nowhere to Run) and at least make a lot of progress on the other two(Green Hills & Smoky Fields 2 & Craving You).

I don’t have my goals for next month written out yet, so I’ll have those up on Sunday’s check-in post. But, this month has actually been pretty productive. I didn’t get to everything but did manage a lot of it. I’ll have that in a bit, but for now:

It’s WiPPet Wednesday again!! I currently have Still Burning open, so I’ll be sharing a bit more from that. I have 5 paragraphs(1+0+3+1) from the end of a scene a little bit farther than what I shared last week. Carrick is Jess’ father.

He wasn’t sure how much later it was when the heavy pounding on his door woke him. He blinked at the clock a few times before the numbers would come into focus. Almost six in the evening. He’d slept for nearly nine hours. And still he felt groggy. But, he dragged himself out of bed and out to his door. If his mom wanted him to join them for dinner, she could forget it. Right now all he wanted was even more sleep.
He opened the door and stared blearily at Carrick Hunter. “What are you doing here?”
“Is Jess in there?”
Austin shook his head. “Why would she be? She made it clear she didn’t want me. And shouldn’t she just be getting out of work now?”
Carrick’s face fell. “She should’ve been. She never showed up.”

Well, that can’t be good, now can it?

  1. A good week, and a good month! I am writing a Kov/Koss fanfic for NaNo this year. As a side project, I plan to add a few hundred words a day to any one of four other stories I left hanging when life and death got in the way.

Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got on tap for November! =)

    1. It was a really good month. This one has started off well, although we’re only on day 2, so we’ll see how it goes. 🙂

  2. Loving all this blue and green (as always). So much blue… like you reached for the sky and touched it.

That said, I always feel sleepier and groggy when I sleep more than my usual 7 hrs, but seldom do when I get less sleep. Was just thinking about your character’s reactions… Though “no, it can’t be a good thing” that Jess never showed up.

    1. Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it.

Well, Austin is already going on some sleep deprivation, after not sleeping well for a couple nights then working a 24 hour shift. And then being woken up from a sound sleep by the knocking.
